Blog Announcement[]

a new bontegame: orange [news][]

Yes! My new mobile game is out today, my 20th mobile game in fact! And it's another colour puzzle! After YELLOW, RED, BLACK, BLUE, GREEN and PINK, here's ORANGE! If you are familiar with my colour puzzles, you know the drill: can you make the screen orange in each of the 50 levels? Click your favourite app store below to download the free game right now:

Download on the App Store
Get it on Google Play

Please spread the word and leave a rating/review in the app stores, you know I will reply! Enjoy ORANGE!

orange, the browser version [browser][]

If you don't own a mobile device on which you could enjoy my latest mobile game, I have now also made a browser version of the game and you can play it here! Or you can just play it anyway ;) Like always this version only has 25 levels compared to the 50 levels of the mobile version (because I dropped levels that weren't suitable for the browser). Enjoy!

Objective[]

Each level will have its own gimmick. You will need to fill/remove all objects on the screen that are not orange, spell ORANGE, or perform a sequence of events.

Overview[]

The theme of this game is oranges, carrots, basketballs, and construction. The music has returned to a calm, less synthy vibe.

Levels[]

1 (On Browser)[]

Hint: Keep pressing the button.
Press the button 12 times to color the screen. The way the sections invert is similar to how they do in Black level 45.

2[]

Hint 1: Swipe left and right.
Hint 2: Swipe up and down.

3 (On Browser)[]

Drag carefully over the 3. The level will reset if your pointer touches its dark border!

NOTE: On the browser version, if you swipe too fast while staying in the 3, the blocks will not be painted, so you need to go back to the square next to your current position to move your block again. This does not apply to the mobile port.

4[]

Hint 1: Left up, middle vertical, right left.
Hint 2: They will align with the 4.
Swipe the bars to align them with the black 4. You may also tap them, but you will find it more difficult.

5 (On Browser)[]

Hint: Rest on the deep orange square.
Be careful! The deep orange will reset the level if you or your path are still active.

6 (On Browser)[]

Hint 1: Connect with the J to make ⊐.
Hint 2: Connect with the Γ to make a 6.
You are the square. When you make contact with a sector, that sector is now stuck on you. Click the restart button in case you touch a sector on the wrong spot.

7 (On Browser)[]

Orange Level 7

The dark orange circle is a gate toggler. If a square is not occupying the button or where the gate was, the gate will be up. All blocks move together.

8 (On Browser)[]

Hint: Stack the traffic cones on the 8, put the one without stripes on top.
Cover the 8 by stacking the striped cones, cover those with the one without white stripes.

9[]

Hint 1: Swipe the right side of the 9 down until the top ball is between the gap, swipe once to the right.
Hint 2: Swipe right once again, bring everything down and align.
A Logica Emotica-type puzzle.

10 (On Browser)[]

Hint 1: Fit the things in the things with holes.
Hint 2: Stack the two on each other.
A ring-stacking toy-type puzzle. Move the top of the 0 to the left and the bottom to the right. Move the top back, and place the top of the 1 in the cup. Place the rest over the rectangle.

11[]

Hint: To put the 1s in the hole, lift them before moving the hole under them.

12[]

Hint: Copy and paste.
Hold the orange column, then hover over a black column and release.

13 (2 on Browser)[]

Hint: Dunk the basketball.
Dropping the basketball into a hoop inverts the row that hoop was in.

14 (On Browser)[]

This time, there are two individual linked bars. Start by swiping the right bar up and the top of that bar to the right. Swipe the top of the left bar to the right and align the bars with the black.

15 (On Browser)[]

Hint 1: Take a closer look at the 15's scaling design.
Hint 2: Tap oranges in ascending size.
Me and the Key level 2 (which includes the orange popping sound effect) but smallest to biggest (as implied by the design of the level number). Clicking oranges in the wrong order causes the oranges you popped to fall back onto the screen.

16 (4 on Browser)[]

Hint 1: Tap seeds first.
Hint 2: Each time, tap segments the same distance from the seed.
Press matching segments on each orange. Start with the segments that have a seed in them and go clockwise. Errors reset the level.

17 (On Browser)[]

Hint 1: Name of the game.
Hint 2: Alphabet.
Hint 3: A is 1, B is 2, C is 3…
Each button has a number that represents a letter in that position of the English alphabet.

18 (On Browser)[]

Essentially level 7.

19 (9 on Browser)[]

Hint 1: Name of the game.
Hint 2: Rotate the letters so they are rightside-up.
Rotate the letters to their upright positions. Each click is a 45° turn clockwise. O is done for you. The N appears the same upside-down.

20 (12 on Browser)[]

Hint 1: Cover the 20.
Hint 2: Place the cones near the 20, place the basketball in between.
Position the cones such so that the basketball can completely cover the 20.

21[]

Hint 1: You can't cross walls, so go around them.
Like blue level 4 but with borders. Also, releasing your pointer resets the level.

22[]

Hint 1: The white dot on the carrots represent that carrot.
Hint 2: Use the lines and the path to select the next carrot.
Click a carrot, then follow the path shown on it. Picking the wrong carrot, or picking a carrot twice, reset the level.

23[]

Orange Level 23

Hint 1: For E, swipe to the right.
Hint 2: For W, swipe up; for M, swipe down; for 3, swipe to the left.
This level resembles an eye chart. Swipe in the direction the three lines of E point (E is right, W is up, M is down, 3 is left). Swiping in the wrong direction makes the eye chart white again.

24 (11 on Browser)[]

A Walk Once puzzle. Start at either end and make small wavy walks to fill all spaces. Use the guides below if you are still stuck.
Starting from the left end: Up, right, up twice, right, down, right, up, right, up twice, right, down…
Starting from the middle end: Right, up, right, down, right, all the way up, right, up, fill the upper part by making a wave pattern.

25 (13 on Browser)[]

Clicking a tile rotates it 90° clockwise. Rotate all tiles so the word ORANGE appears when read from top to bottom..

26[]

North East West South, but North and South spawn vertical lines, and West and East spawn horizontal lines.

27[]

Hint 1: Position the O and R.
Hint 2: Move the other letter blocks so the E can move, then move everything out of the way to position it.
Hint 3: Position the G before the N and A.
Essentially Green level 12 but a little harder.

28 (16 on Browser)[]

Hint: Pairs.
Essentially Mahjong solitaire with two sides but matches can be on the same side.

29[]

Hint 1: Cover the 29.
Hint 2: Stack everything.
Sandwich the basketball between the two cones.

30 (19 on Browser)[]

Orange Level 30

Hint 1: Move one carrot in the direction the stick of dots on the current carrot points and select the one you land on.
Has 16 carrots in a rhombus. Clicking one shows a number of dots pointing in a direction. Move that way x steps.

31 (20 on Browser)[]

This is a rather puzzling level. Clicking a triangle rotates it and the black of another triangle. Click a triangle until the one it controls covers the black. Click that triangle and repeat. Or, click the triangle until it covers its black, then keep rotating until the other one does.

32 (21 on Browser)[]

Hint 1: Rotary phone.
Hint 2: NORAGE.
A rotary phone. 1 is E, 2 is G, 3 is A, 4 is R, 5 is O, and 6 is N. Your input will show up above the rotary phone once the segment collides with the socket.

33[]

Hint 1: Up and down.
Hint 2: Press top button if going northwest/east, bottom if moving southwest/east.

34[]

Hint 1: The segment right of the two-seed segment is the first segment to click.
Hint 2: The middle orange is backwards as implied by the 4.
Like level 16 but with a third, inverted, orange, meaning you must go counter-clockwise for it.

35[]

Hint 1: Circle is O, semicircle is R.
Hint 2: Repeats for all the shapes.
Like black level 26 but harder: you have to look at the shape outside the buttons, not just the icon on them.

36 (23 on Browser)[]

Hint: (on the parts where the level number covers the path) ZzZ…
This time, you are always active, even if your trail has faded away. You must stay under the level number to be safe.

37[]

Hint 1: Go around.
Hint 2: Swipe the 37 off-screen, swipe up until it is above the cones.

38 (24 on Browser)[]

Hint 1: Name of the game.
Hint 2: Think a number pad on a phone.
Hint 3: The number comes first, so press the buttons 1 + x times to input the letter.
Spell the name of the game. Click a number multiple times to switch between characters. For some reference, see the gallery.

Unfortunately, making YELLOW does not turn the screen yellow like in Blue level 47 or Green level 40.

39[]

Orange Level 39

Hint: There is a secret slot behind the hole of the 9. You can also bump the other basketballs with the one you are holding.

40[]

Hint 1: Left and right.
Hint 2: Enter all caves.
Press the left button to hide in the next black box on the left. Press the right button the hide in the next black box on the right. Press the opposite button once inside a cave to exit and fill it. Remember you need to fill all squares to complete the level!

41[]

Hint 1: Name of the game.
Hint 2: Spell ORANGE.
No need to worry about the triangles not aligning! Just spell the name of the game.

42 (22 on Browser)[]

Orange Level 42

Hint: The hexagons invert the top left hexagon and move clockwise to the next. They never invert themselves.
Essentially red level 35.

43[]

Hint 1: Drop up here.
Hint 2: Take the basketball up to the hint button and drop it from there until the hoop is gone.
Trick level! You need to bump down the hoop by bringing the basketball to the top of the level instead of dunking the basketball.

44[]

Hint 1: For each symbol move one space, not to the next carrot, in the direction said symbols point (so you tap the carrot southeast of the top carrot next).
Hint 2: Repeat for the others.
Same as 30, but each carrot has two Es, the first pointing up or down, the second left or right. For each E, move one space, not one carrot. Start at the top carrot.

45[]

Hint 1: Make left and right turns.
Hint 2: For the holes, turn left twice. Everything else turns right.
Essentially green level 49.

46[]

Hint: Starting from either end, press a 4 if there is a 4, a 6 if a 6.

47 (25 on Browser)[]

Lowering the truck window shows a fox pointing at the back button.

Hint 1: Do the arrows on the truck resemble something else?
Hints 2 and 3: How about the back button?
You can't leave this level. Perhaps the back button has another purpose?

48[]

Hint 1: First, place the block in the 8 over the white tile.
Hint 2: Push the middle box down, and push the other box to the right of it.
Hint 3: Push the middle box above the leftmost white tile, not on it. That way, you can do the next step.
Hint 4: Push the other box under the gap, push it up and over the right white tile. Now, you may align the first box.

49[]

Hint 1: Combinations (< + > = O, Γ + > = R).
Hint 2: Repeats for the others.
Each top and bottom circle pair represents half of a letter. Orient the circles so when you combine the symbols, they form an upright letter that is part of the name of the game.

50[]

The longest and hardest level.
PHASE 1: Open the lid with the 5 and lift the carrot. Starting from the dot, press the corresponding parts on the 0, going to the next adjacent one each time. You may need to lift the carrot multiple times.
PHASE 2: Read the cones. Stack the figures on top of each other, do not read from left to right for each.
PHASE 3: Bounce the basketball, read the figure before it drops!
Phase 4: The lid closes, and a white dot appears on the 5. Configure this code. Congratulations! You have completed Orange!
NOTE: You may not skip phases.

Bugs, Glitches, and Notes[]

  • When the player swipes on level 2, multiple of the same sound effect will play.
  • On level 6 on the browser version, after you align the orange 6 with the black one, your character will shift out of place a bit.
  • There are several bugs on levels 20 and 29.
    • Sometimes, putting a cone over the basketball will cause it to launch into the air. This also happens when you ram it into the side with a cone.
    • Trying to place a cone in front of the basketball or vice-versa will send the basketball flying.
    • If you stack the two cones on the basketball and move the basketball, the cones will overlap.
  • Attempting to drag across the walls of 21 produces a series of flashes from the square until your pointer drags back onto it or releases.
  • On levels 26 and 33, the parts of the path you covered will overlap the Go to Home confirmation.
  • Levels 28 and 42 have a reset button despite it not being necessary.
  • On level 32, dragging the rotary phone hard enough into the socket will push the segment a little past the socket, which is not possible on normal rotary phones.
  • On level 38, a single number may accidentally input a new digit instead of skimming through its list.
  • On level 39, the basketballs might appear in front of the hole and disappear on-screen if dropped correctly or interacted with a little beforehand.

Trivia[]

  • This is Bart Bonte's 20th mobile game overall.
  • The music was revealed on December 7, 2022.
    • A user under the username @gimbokon suggested gray, which is even less likely to become part of the series than white, since it is a tint of black, and that game uses that color. Although white is still an option, it is highly unlikely since it lacks variety.
  • The game was revealed on January 31, 2023 and could be pre-registered after February 17.
  • This is the second secondary color in the series, the first being green.
  • This is the fourth color game with detailed graphics, the first three being red, black, and pink.
  • This game does not have gradient background as implied by a post on Bonte's Twitter.[1]
  • This is the first game where the player can disable the screen flashes.
    • Unlike the mobile version, the player can not disable screen flashes on browser.
  • This is the first game to use ONLY visual hints and show how many hints the level has to offer.
    • Pink uses both visual and worded hints.
    • After update 3.0, color games now only provide visual hints.
  • This game breaks the trend of reusing part of level 1 in another level.
  • This is the first game ever where level 2 does not appear on the browser version of the game.
    • This is the first color where level 50 does not appear on browser.
    • This is the first color since Blue where level 4 does not appear on browser.
  • On level 16, the 1 and 6 are placed such so that the 1 points to the 1st segment on the left orange and the 6 points to the 6th segment on the right orange provided the segment with the seed is 1. This also occurs with level 34 and the browser counterpart.
  • The rotary phone on level 32 seems to resemble an orange.
    • It is also not a perfect circle.
  • On level 38 on the browser version, the input shown above the number pad does not use the Calibri font like in the mobile version.
