"You find yourself dropped in a strange room, but are you smart enough to get out? No doubt!" - The Bonte Room
The Bonte Room is the oldest Bonte game and the only one launched in 2005. It is an Adobe escape game. It is still playable here.
Basics[]
Starting Area
You are stuck in a bright square room with no light source. The walls are grey, the floor is carpeted light vermillion, the door is red with a white handle and grey keyhole, and there is no skirting. There is a picture of a dogg reused in Doggnation standing in a marigold background hiding a note that reads, "You won't get a drink when the lights just blink!" Make note of this. The large leafy houseplant is just there to appeal.
Vendor Area with Sink
To your left is a vendor sporting a dogg floating around in a starless space carrying Coca-Cola and seven similarly coloured buttons on a grey panel. You may receive a power drink you refuse to drink, but only after you light all green LEDs. Simply try all buttons until one's LED stays on. If you look carefully at the right of the black vendor, you will notice a shiny silver sink plug.
Locker Area
Opposite the door is a fishbowl on a stone counter. On the wall is a red locker that has a number lock and holds a rusty key that does not work on the door. The input can be 6 digits max. However, there is no visible code here.
Arcade
The code is on the final wall. There is a red-orange armchair with nothing under its cushion, but a fishing net under the armchair itself. To its left is an active black Dogg Hop arcade machine. Dogg Hop is like jumping frogs but with an extra available space. When you complete the game, you will receive congratulations as well as, "Dogg Hop, a 1-to-1 square game"—that is, 121 times 121.
REST OF WALKTHROUGH
At this point, you should have the rusty key. Of course, it does not work on the door (just yet). To remove the rust, you need the power drink[1], and the only way to dispense the liquid is to put it in the fishbowl (although you could use the sink, but the game does not allow). You don't want to kill the fish, so fill the sink and use your fishing net to carry the fish there. Now you can finally get the game over with!
Or you can:
- Try beating your time.
- Look around the Bontegames blogger.
- Become a member of Bontegames.
- Read and reply to other escapees.
- Go watch the fish!?
Trivia[]
- For some reason, there are grammatical errors (although this may because of Bonte not having English as his native language).
- When you catch the fish with the fishing net while the sink is full, the text near the bottom says "catched" instead of "caught."
- When you plop the fish into the sink, the text says "more happy" instead of "happier."
- This game was not necessarily for any competition, but it featured JayIsGames[2] and LazyLaces reviews in coming months.
- Bonte later posted A Bonte Games Flashback: The Bonte Room on Halloween Eve 2007, which reviews the game and includes the solution.
- The fish in the fishbowl was reused in Seen on Screen: An Online Puzzle Experiment and Factory Balls 2.
