"You find yourself dropped in a strange room again, but are you smart enough this time to get out? No doubt!" - The Bonte Room 2
The Bonte Room 2 is a Adobe Flash Bonte escape game and the sequel to The Bonte Room. Like the prequel, it was not intended for a competition. Bart Bonte later posted A Bonte Games Flashback: The Bonte Room 2 less than a week before Christmas 2007, which reviews the game and includes the solution.
Gameplay[]
Overview[]
Compared to the prequel, Bonte Room 2 has softer music, and there is not as much computation necessary, easing the game significantly for those who can not access a calculator and do not know exponential powers (multiplying the same number an amount of times to 1). However, it introduces the annoyingly squawking parrot reused in the next Bonte game, Free the Bird.
Areas[]
You are confined in another bright cubical room without a light source. The walls are grey, the floor is carpeted forest green, the lime door has a white handle and grey keyhole, and the skirting is missing. On a stone counter to the left of the door is a parrot in a birdcage who is persistent enough to hold on to the key until he is fed with his favourite type of peanuts—cactus milk-flavoured and roasted.
To your left is an automatic metal fireplace that only activates upon pressing its buttons in a sequence. Using the red button means the next white button you press will stay on. Underneath this mechanism is a blunt metal wire you can't reach without some supply. To the left of the hearth exist two paintings with the parrot from the starting area on them both. The one facing left has a light forest green background, while the other one appears on top of yellow and has what looks like a Sacagawea coin on top of it.
To your left again is a peanuts machine that does not take coins. It would make the coin worthless at first, but nothing is worthless in point-and-click. To the machine's left is a chalkboard with the code 12321, the code for the fireplace, written on it, as well as a ruler for snatching the wire under the niche.
The last area consists of a cactus that produces cactus milk, but you need to puncture it for this "reward." Next to the cactus is a fan covered by a grid. This grid is screwed down, but there is no screwdriver available: the game forces usage of the coin! You may now use the grid to safely roast the peanuts. Behind the fan itself is a blue chip card needed to even receive peanuts. The fan is also necessary for slicing the metal wire sharp to puncture the cactus for some cactus milk. To grab the chip card, you must block the fan with the ruler.
Trivia[]
- Most of the green shades used in this game are closely comparable with green (game)'s colour palette.
