The game logo

Yellow is the first entry in Bart Bonte's colour games series released on National Star Wars Day 2017 on mobile and two weeks later on browser with only 25 levels.

Overview[]

yellow (game), on mobile, has 50 levels—3 of the last ones (not exactly the last 3) being rather annoying—each with its own gimmick but the same goal: turn the screen entirely yellow. Some levels introduce new concepts that were not seen or related to previous levels in past Bonte puzzle games.

Levels[]

NOTE: hints may be modified from their original description or left out because they are not very helpful.

1[]

Yellow Level 1

Hint: Keep pushing the button.
Essentially 40xEscape Room 1.

2[]

Yellow Level 2

Hint: Pull down.
If you let go, it will slide back up to the top.

3 (On Browser)[]

Yellow Level 3

Hint: Draw over the 3.
Trace the black 3. You might need to trace more. Simply tapping does not work.

4 (On Browser)[]

Yellow Level 4

Hint 1: Touch, hold, move.
Hint 2: Up is down, left is right.
When you drag, dark yellow sectors appear. Each moves in the opposite direction of your pointer. Align the sectors with the black parts of the 4.

This level reappears in Green level 46 but with Tetris pieces that you have to release your pointer to place.

5[]

Yellow Level 5

Hint 1: Top button brings a yellow bar down.
Hint 2: Bottom button locks the bar.
The top button moves a yellow row down once. The bottom button locks its position.

This originates in 40xEscape Level 4.

6 (5 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 6

Rotate the dark triangles and position them with the black ones.

7 (On Browser)[]

Yellow Level 7

Hint: Clockwise.
Spin the rudder clockwise. A yellow canvas will slide in from the left. Spinning the rudder counterclockwise or releasing it will rewind the yellow canvas.

8[]

Yellow Level 8

Hint 1: Putt the ball into the black hole.
Hint 2: Pull back to aim, release to putt.
Hint 3: Not so hard, pull back a little.
Dragging back and releasing launches the golf ball in the opposite direction with however much force as the length of your line. Putt in into the hole. Too much force will ignore the hole.

9[]

Yellow Level 9

Hint 1: Swipe in the direction you want to go.
Hint 2: Make a path to fill the complete screen.
Hint 3: Don't block your path!
Start from the 9 and swipe in the direction you want to move. You can not retrace your path, so be careful not to trap yourself before you finish the level!

10 (6 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 10

Hint: Only push bars when the button is yellow.
A recycled version of 40xEscape Room 6. If you click a row while the circle is black, it WILL reset the level instead of revert only that row to black.

11 (8 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 11

Hint 1: Release and quickly pull down again from the top.
A more lenient Me and the Key level 10 in that the rope is slower at accelerating back up.

12 (9 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 12

Hint 1: Hold the button for a second, repeat.
Hint 2: Like blowing a balloon.
Hint 3: Don't press for too long.
Hold the yellow circle to expand it. But every 1-2 seconds, it starts to shrink. When it does, release it, then hold it again. The level may take longer depending on the dimensions of your screen.

13 (10 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 13

Hint 1: Select the letters in a certain order.
Hint 2: What game are you playing?
The 6 black letters spell the name of the game. Press them in order. Misspelling will restart the level.

14 (11 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 14

Hint: Tap the square that flashed yellow.
A block will flash. Click that block to turn it yellow for the rest of the level. Mistakes will not turn all blocks back to black, but will select a different block to flash. This also happens after four seconds of inactivity.

15[]

Yellow Level 15

Hint: Tap a bar and confirm with the button.
40xEscape Room 12.

16 (12 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 16

Hint 1: Drop from the top.
Hint 2: Drag the ball to the top of the screen.
Raise the ball to the top of the screen (or close enough) and drop it. This will penetrate the next black row. If you do not raise it high enough, it will not penetrate the rows.

17 (13 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 17

Hint: Fit the pieces in the black triangle.
The triangle pointing down will not completely cover the corners of the larger black triangle. Hence, the three triangles pointing up must go there, but not in any specific position. They will create a gap for the upside-down triangle, put it there.

18[]

Yellow Level 18

Hint 1: One button in a row: push it 1 time.
Hint 2: Two buttons in a row: push them 2 times.
Hint 3: Three buttons in a row: push them 3 times.
Hint 4: Four buttons in a row: push them 4 times.
Fields of Logic level 14 but with a fourth row.

19 (14 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 19

Hint 1: Hold the top button to make the bottom button yellow.
Hint 2: Only push bars when bottom button is yellow.
Hint 3: Hold top button for a long time and release.
40xEscape Room 28 and level 10 of this game combined.

20 (15 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 20

Hint: Next button is x steps in arrow direction.
All arrows form a looped path. You may begin wherever you wish; just follow the direction on the starting space. The direction the arrow points is which way you have to move. The number of triangles is the number of spaces you move in that direction. For instance, the top left rhombus has an 3-triangle arrow is pointing downwards, so you move 3 spaces downward.

21[]

Yellow Level 21

The circles will need to point up. However, rotating a circle will rotate the nearby ones, too. Therefore, you need the circles in a single alignment.

22[]

Yellow Level 22

Hint 1: Top button lights top bar.
Hint 2: Bottom button moves one bar down.
3 buttons. The highest one automatically locks the current active row (if one exists) and spawns a new one at the top, and the other 2 move it up/down. If two rows overlap, the active row will take the stationary one with it.

Blue level 27 has the same 3 buttons, but the 2nd functions differently. You use it to manually lock the rows.

23[]

Yellow Level 23

Hint 1: Button and neighbor inverse.
Hint 2: The neighbor to invert rotates clockwise.
Hint 3: Try to start in the middle and finish with the borders.

24[]

Yellow Level 24

Hint 1: Which button is working?
Hint 2: Find the next working button.
Hint 3: See a pattern?

25 (16 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 25

An RGB level. The first slider controls the red in the background. The second controls the green. The third adjusts the blue. All three colours combined make white.

26 (17 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 26

The eye is watching you. Just sit and do nothing.

27[]

Yellow Level 27

Like level 9 but with other blocks.

28[]

Yellow Level 28

Hint 1: Find the button that lights all other buttons.
Hint 2: Try all the buttons.
furiosity level 45 but with less objects.

29[]

Yellow Level 29

Hint: Try dragging the thing to the left and clockwise.

30[]

Yellow Level 30

Hint 1: Cursor and 4 directions.
Hint 2: Move the cursor to light all buttons.
The squares in the grid are useless buttons. Instead, note the North East West South buttons outside. These buttons move the yellow square and pave yellow.

31[]

Yellow Level 31

Hint 1: Touch, hold, move around.
Hint 2: Move left/right until 1 bar fits, then move up/down.
The spot is in the lower left towards the center of the screen.

32 (18 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 32

Hint 1: Turn the night into day.
Hint 2: Drag on the earth to make it go around.
Rotate the world by dragging it either to the left or right, and slowly. The sun must be in the center of the screen to complete the level. Remember: even if the entire screen is some shade of yellow, it will not count.

33[]

Yellow Level 33

Hint 1: Do you pass balls on the left or right?
Hint 2: Go around the 8 starting at the bottom.
Instead of a puzzle piece from What's Inside the Box? level 59 where you start at the top, it is an 8 where you start from below.

34 (19 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 34

Hint 1: Slider 1 is size.
Hint 2: Sliders 2 and 3 are rotation.
The first slider increases the size of the triangles. The second rotates the triangles that are a part of three in a single row. The third rotates the other triangles. Adjust the sliders in a way that covers the screen yellow.

35[]

Yellow Level 35

Hint 1: Button 2 inverses the 3rd bar.
Hint 2: Button 1 moves all yellow bars to the right.
The left button shifts all yellow columns to the right once. The right button inverts the 3rd column. For simplicity, press the 2nd button, then the 1st, and repeat 5 more times.

36[]

Yellow Level 36

Hint: Fill all rows and columns by swiping.
Paint the screen yellow by swiping in a direction.

37 (20 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 37

Pressing a triangle will turn another yellow. You must then press that triangle. If you click another triangle, it will reset the triangle you pressed. Paint all triangles yellow.

38[]

Yellow Level 38

This level has 2 golf balls. You need both balls in the hole to complete the level. Note that the first golf ball can hit the other.

39[]

Yellow Level 39

Tap anywhere, go up and tap, go right and tap twice, go down and tap thrice, go left and tap twice, go up and tap.

40 (21 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 40

Set bottom right to East, set top left to East, then rotate the top right to North.

41[]

Yellow Level 41

Like level 23 but with squares.

42[]

Yellow Level 42

Cover the black parts by dragging the 4 and 2. Although the 4 can cover both the horizontal and vertical lines, the 2 can only cover the horizontal line.

43[]

Yellow Level 43

Like 40xEscape Room 30 but the

44 (22 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 44

When tapping a tile, it inverts the tiles next to it but not itself. After turning the nearby tiles to yellow, you need to go back and turn the tile you were pressing to yellow. Avoid turning yellow tiles back to black.

45 (23 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 45

Two holes and two chevrons. Take both chevrons and place them in a hole each. Or, if you want to see a bug, take one hole and collect the two chevrons with it, but collect the other one before the first one slides in completely. Because both chevrons are off-screen, the level is complete, but a black hole still exists.

red (game) Level 38 and black (game) Level 17 are inspired by this.

46 (24 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 46

The 4 corner rhombuses act as buttons, bringing the single yellow rhombus closer to them and leaving a trail behind. Use these 4 button to paint the other rhombuses yellow.

red (game) Level 23 is the same, but it is on a square grid and the 4 central squares are the button moving the red square in the upper left corner up and down, left and right.

47[]

Yellow Level 47

Hint 1: You have to win the race.
Hint 2: Tap Lane 4 quickly!
You don't need to wait for the other players to catch up; you just have to win.

48[]

Yellow Level 48

Hint 1: Keep the button pressed.
Hint 2: THE TEETH BITE YOUR FINGER?!
Hint 3: Can you make them not bite your finger?
Hint 4: Quickly retract when teeth start biting!
This level all comes down to frame-perfect timing and courage. Keep the button pressed until the teeth begin to close in. Then, let go immediately before they bite the button. But make sure not to release before then.

49[]

Yellow Level 49

Every time, the original board along with a new yellow block appears. Tap the yellow block that was not on the last screen. The game renders your answer by turning black and determines if the current board continues with a new block or it resets.

50 (25 on Browser)[]

Yellow Level 50

Hint 1: Name of the game?
Hint 2: What should you yell?
Hint 3: Maybe "OW?"
The word yellow is actually two words (despite not being a compound word/portmanteau). The first part has 7 speaking words. The second part has 9 interjections, making a total of 63 possible combinations.

Trivia[]

  • There is another version of the game made by Chinese developer Peng Wan called Make Me Yellow. It only has 30 levels, but some are based on this game, while others are more unique. However, it does not accredit or even feature Bonte at all.
  • Every level has its level number somewhere on it.
  • When you finish the game, Bart Bonte will congratulate you, but then he says his favourite colour is red, which leads to the sequel released for mobile on January 17, 2018. Again, it has 50 levels. The browser version was launched around 3 months later, on April 18, 2018.
  • The browser version of Level 14 has 24 squares.
  • This is the only Flash colour game.
  • This game begins the trend of a button on level 1.
  • This game begins the trend of something to pull on level 2.
  • This game begins the trend of drawing levels.
  • This game begins the trend of having level 11 on browser.
  • This is currently the only game where the level 46 also appears on browser.
  • The intro music was the music in the Bart Bonte Collection trailer.
